Luca Raineri è ricercatore in Security Studies e Relazioni Internazionali presso la Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna di Pisa, Italia. Le sue aree di interesse includono la sicurezza africana, la geopolitica e i peace and conflict studies. La sua ricerca indaga sulle implicazioni di sicurezza dei fenomeni transnazionali e delle economie extra-legali, concentrandosi in particolare sulla regione del Sahara-Sahel. Dal 2010 è stato impegnato in diverse esperienze di ricerca sul campo in Senegal, Mali, Niger, Tunisia.

Il dott. Raineri ha conseguito una laurea magistrale in Teoria politica presso l'Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) di Parigi (2008), e un Master of Arts in Human Rights and Conflict Management presso la Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna (2011). Ha conseguito un dottorato di ricerca in Global Politics presso la Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna (2016) e come membro della Research School on Peace and Conflict di Oslo, con una tesi che esamina come le pratiche di sicurezza modellano le relazioni fra traffici e conflitto nello spazio sahariano.

Il dott. Raineri è stato consulente di diverse ONG, organizzazioni internazionali e istituti di ricerca privati ​​che si occupano di sicurezza e dei suoi nessi con diritti umani e sviluppo, con particolare riferimento all'Africa.
